This week's best bets

Ah, the counterculture. No, not the one canonized in the '60s flick Easy Rider, but the one worshipped at the bar. Opening on Wednesday and remaining until Feb. 2 is the Stoli Hotel, a makeshift watering hole/lounge at the Ice Palace Studios, 1400 N. Miami Ave. in Miami. It will feature a swanky registration area and lobby space, rooms inspired by the Stolichnaya flavors, a luxurious Stoli Elit suite (read: VIP room), a spa, and of course, a bar. Events will showcase design, music, art, entertainment and fashion.

Sounds funky, but even funkier is Rayito, the Spanish guitar guru who almost outdid Ricky Martin on his latest album, playing at Mansion Wednesday. Rayito performs in honor of the All Nations Under One Roof monthly party celebrating Spain and featuring live flamenco dancers grooving to house and rock music. Tickets are $20.

And if it's Thursday, it must be another restaurant opening. This time, in the Design District, it's Brosia, a Mediterranean-inspired eatery that's said to feature a signature sangria. Opening at 7 p.m. with a splashy party, Brosia, 163 NE 39th St., features a 400-square-foot courtyard with 150-year-old oak trees. And you thought your grandparents were the only antiques in this town.

Also newly opened is the spanking new, stunning Texas de Brazil, above Monty's at the Miami Beach Marina. The 650-seat Brazilian steakhouse isn't exactly the best place to start your New Year's diet, but if you're in the mood to stuff your face, it's an ideal spot. We really love the restaurant's lounge area -- Beijos Lounge -- a great place for pre-or post-food coma cocktails with priceless waterfront views.

It doesn't have the view, but the scene around Brickell Avenue is slowly but surely sizzling, especially this Thursday, when Lincoln Road Euro-magnet Segafredo opens at 1421 South Miami Ave. And unlike the mostly outdoor cafe society 'fredo sports on Lincoln Road, the Brickell location features a sprawling indoor and outdoor seating area complete with an additional on-site nightclub, Spazio Nero, so you can get your groove on even if you're only sipping an espresso. The club will be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights while the rest of the place is open daily.

Speaking of clubs, we were astonished to find out that Kobe Club's Waygu beef is surprisingly low in cholesterol and fat, giving weight-watching hipsters more reason to want to cram their size zeros into the svelte new South Beach hot spot.
